A positive, practical guide to healing the world - one day at a time. Packed with ideas and facts from leading campaign organizations, this handbook shows how the smallest actions can make a difference to your community and in the wider world.

Abstract:  The Everyday Activist: 365 Ways to Change the World is exactly what the title suggests it is. The book contains a list of ideas and examples for individuals who want to make the world a better place. The underlying idea behind the book is that, since no one can bring about change in a day everyone should contribute in small ways to help make a difference.

The issues tackled range from environmental issues to discrimination, from community and neighbourhood to globalisation and from employment to culture and creativity. The suggestions given, for trying to deal with such issues, are also very varied and, often, quite interesting. Some are the usual propositions -- walking instead of using a car, not littering, volunteering and so on. Many of the ideas though, are quite unusual. For example, the author recommends supporting clown doctors or knitting as ways of bettering the world.
Each new idea has a page-long description and examples of other people/organisations who are working on the same thing. At the end of each page there is a list of points, which tell the reader what he can do or how she can get involved. The book is fairly well illustrated and quite informative as it not only makes suggestions, but also provides sufficient information about a wide range of problems and solutions.
